An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) War Nurse, the 1930 Edgar Selwyn World War I (WWI) military medical nursing romantic melodrama ("A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer ALL TALKING Picture"; based on the memoirs of an anonymous World War I American nurse who served with the French Army; the memoirs included affairs the nurse had with French soldiers, and it was thought that it "could not be filmed", but MGM bought the rights and condensed all of the nurse's affairs into a single affair with an American flyer who had been shot down over France, and, perhaps to tone down the scandalous nature of the subject matter, the flyer dies in the end) starring Robert Montgomery (in his second year of making movies, in his ninth film!), Robert Ames, June Walker (in the title role as the "war nurse"), Anita Page, Zasu Pitts, and Marie Prevost. Note that third-billed June Walker was a Broadway actress in the late 1920s who appeared in a couple of early 1930s movies. But she then had a major accident where she almost lost a leg, and she was in and out of hospitals for two years, and she only made a few movies after that. Her son was actor John Kerr, best remembered for his role in South Pacific. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the card has next-to-no left or right borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters.
