An Autographed 3" x 5" [8 x 13 cm] Cut Album Page (Learn More) Clara Marion Jessie Dowse Rousby was an English stage actress from the 1860s to the 1870s. The daughter of Dr. Richard Dowse, an Army medical department inspector general, she met actor Wymert Rousby in the late 1860s and married him in 1868. They acted together, and she played Joan of Arc. She was considered one of the most successful and beautiful actresses of the 1870s. She passed away from consumption (tuberculosis) in 1879 at the approximate age of 27 (information about the date of her birth is somewhat sketchy). Important Added Info: This cut album page has been personally autographed (signed) by Clara Rousby (she signed "Clara Marion Jessie Rousby")! It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! Note that this is one of a wonderful collection of 91 items that were assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
