An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) White Slavery, the 1957 Barry Mahon sexploitation movie ("Tangiers... taken on the spot where they sell everything including women!"; "...the story of girls in trouble!") narrated by Barry Mahon (billed as "Michael Steel"). Note that information on this film is difficult to find! It had a working title of "The White Slave Racket", and while Alan Smiler and Michael Steel are credited as the editor and photographer/narrator, it is likely that both names are pseudonyms for Barry Mahon (who has used Alan Smiler in other films). This seems to be Mahon's very first movie, and perhaps he used pseudonyms to hide his involvement. If it IS a Barry Mahon movie (which seems likely), then it is his very first, and that makes it a historic sexploitation movie, because he went on to make many of the best-remembered sexploitation movies of the 1960s! Note that director Barry Mahon had a fascinating life that could fill several movies! He was an American pilot for England in World War II and he was shot down and put in a POW camp, and he escaped and was the basis for the Steve McQueen character in the movie "The Great Escape" (Mahon also loved motorcycles). He became Errol Flynn's pilot and later Errol Flynn's manager. He then made many sexploitation "nudie cuties" movies in the 1950s and 1960s, but at the end of his career, he made a drastic shift, and made several children's movies (perhaps he found religion?). You can click on his name for a more complete version of this biography of his life. If anyone knows more about this movie or Mahon's drastic career changes, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
