Douglas"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; with the distinction of being the first movie released in CinemaScope; about the Roman tribune who is sent to Jerusalem right before Christ is crucified, and afterwards, he "wins" the robe that Jesus was wearing, and it changes his life) starring Richard Burton (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Marcellus Gallio), Jean Simmons (as Diana), Victor Mature (as Demetrius), Michael Rennie, Jay Robinson (as Caligula), Dean Jagger, Torin Thatcher, Richard Boone (as Pontius Pilate), Betta St. John, Jeff Morrow, Ernest Thesiger, Dawn Addams, Leon Askin, Michael Ansara (as Judas), and Gloria Saunders. Note that this movie was very successful, and a sequel of sorts was filmed the next year, called "Demetrius and the Gladiators", with Victor Mature reprising his role, as does Michael Rennie as Peter and Jay Robinson as Caligula. At this time, distributors would print a different pressbook with a lesser number of pages (usually 4 pages and printed in black & white) for smaller theaters, while the larger theaters would get a pressbook (sometimes in color) with many more pages. This pressbook is the 40-page pressbook used in larger theaters. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)!
