An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Key Book Still (Learn More)

Eight Bells, the 1935 Roy William Neill romantic love triangle adventure melodrama ("A beautiful girl and 60 maddened men... fighting for a chance at life!"; "Trapped on a sinking ship.. ...they mutinied against law and convention.. fought for one fleeting hour of life!"; "From the play by Percy Mandley"; about the daughter of a steamship owner who stows away on one of his ships, alone with 60 men, and both the captain and the first mate fall in love with her, and then the crew mutinies and the ship goes through a typhoon to boot) starring Ann Sothern, Ralph Bellamy, John Buckler, Catherine Doucet, and Arthur Hohl. Note that you probably don't recognize the name "John Buckler" and wonder how he was third billed in this movie! He was the son of a noted English actor, Hugh Buckler, and they came to Hollywood, and it looked like the son was off to having a promising career, with parts in David Copperfield and Tarzan Escapes, but after making that movie, both father and son were out driving in Malibu, and their car went off the road and into the ocean, and both men died, and John Buckler was just 30 years old.

Important Added Info: Note that this still is a key book still, printed on a deluxe heavyweight paper stock. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the top of the still.

Condition: very good.
