What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster has a Canadian censor snipe over the bottom center of the image. It was folded in half an extra time and it had tears and tiny areas of paper loss along parts of many foldlines and in both stars' faces at top right. There were pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. Given its many defects, the poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer left alone the snipe, and you can clearly see signs of the defects and the restoration. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster.
