An Original Vintage Linenbacked French Circus Poster (measures 15 3/4" x 23 1/4" [40 x 59 cm]) (Learn More) Catch Feminin (literally translates to "Female Wrestling"), the 1950s French circus poster promoting a female wrestling match which was held at the Vedette Circus, and featuring art of wrestlers in the ring. The wrestlers were presented by Lucien Choury, a French cyclist who won the gold medal in Men's tandem along with Jean Cugnot at the 1924 Summer Olympics. We have seen posters for this event which took place at other circuses so it's apparent that Choury and his wrestlers toured around to different venues. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was folded once in each direction and it had scuffs along both folds, with scuffs around the edges and in the top right blue background. It had a stain in the bottom left blank corner. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
