An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Confessions of a Nazi Spy, the 1939 Anatole Litvak World War II (WWII) spy espionage crime thriller ("Trapped! by the America they tried to betray... by the government they tried to destroy... by the viciousness of their own traitorous schemes!"; "Sensational drama about Nazi activity in America!"; "You won't dare see this picture if you take orders from Them!"; "These hands....... must be caught"; "Based on materials gathered by Leon G. Turrou, 'Ace G-Man'"; Robinson is a federal agent posing as a Nazi spy to infiltrate a major spy ring) starring Edward G. Robinson, Francis Lederer, Lya Lys, Henry O'Neill, George Sanders, Paul Lukas, Sig Ruman, Dorothy Tree, Lionel Royce, Henry Victor, and Hans Heinrich von Twardowski. Note that one of Warner Bros' executives was murdered by the Nazis in Germany in the 1930s, which caused that studio to be the first to cease distributing their movies in Germany. They also were the first major studio to make this openly anti-Nazi movie, which pulled no punches!

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned four "other company" scene lobby cards from this movie, but we have NEVER before auctioned this "other company" title card! This was printed by Associated Displays Corporation which was a company based in New York City. Before it was discovered by noted poster dealer/historian Walter Reuben, collectors did not know the name of this company (and thought it to be located in the Midwest), and it is often referred to as the "other company" (and we will continue to refer to it that way, since collectors know it that way). From 1936 to roughly 1941, this company printed its own one-sheets and lobby card sets (and a very few inserts, half-sheets, three-sheets, 40x60s and stills) for three major studio movies (Warner Brothers, Paramount and United Artists, but no other studios). The items almost always feature a tiny legal disclaimer and cast credits only. The posters and lobby cards are from the original release of the movie, and almost always have completely different artwork from the regular studio release. They did this by combining elements from different film scenes onto one poster or card. Sometimes, "other company" posters have images that are the equal of those from the regular studio release posters. Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. There are pairs of staple holes in the corners, with some tiny tears in some areas where the staples were roughly removed. There are a few creases, faint smudges, and a tiny tear in the upper right blank border, with a tiny tear in the left of the top blank border, with a few faint smudges around the edges. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
