He was a leading figure in the new art movement of the 1960s and his work defined the basic premise of pop art through parody. His work was heavily influenced by both popular advertising and the comic book style. Roy passed away in 1997 at the age of 73. Artist: Roy Lichtenstein Important Added Info: Note that ABC broadcast a two-hour, star-studded television special called I Love Liberty in 1982. It was produced by the People for the American Way foundation to commemorate the 250th anniversary of George Washington's birth. People For the American Way is a progressive advocacy group which was created in 1981 by the television producer Norman Lear. In conjunction with this television special, Roy Lichtenstein created this artwork featuring the Statue of Liberty. It was available as a limited edition art print, as well as a more widely available commercial poster. The poster offered here is the rare commercial poster which was officially licensed by the People for the American Way foundation. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has a thin, faint smudge in between the words "LOVE" and "LIBERTY" at bottom (in blank paper) but otherwise it is in very nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
