An Unfolded German Travel Poster (measures 24" x 34" [61 x 86 cm]) (Learn More) Hameln, the 1961 German travel poster encouraging people to visit the city of Hameln (known in English as Hamelin), and featuring artwork of the Pied Piper playing his magic pipe. Of course, the city is world famous for the folk tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin (Der Rattenfanger von Hameln), a medieval story that tells of a tragedy that befell the town in the 13th century. The version of the tale which was written by the Brothers Grimm made it popular throughout the world, and in the summer the tale is performed by actors in the town center every Sunday. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this German poster! Condition: very good. The poster was folded once in each direction, and it has some small tears and creases in parts of the folds.
