An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

Edna Ferber's Show Boat, the 1936 James Whale epic romantic interracial romance riverboat musical ("Version of 1936"; "The grandest show you'll ever know!"; "Hear Glorious New Music and Songs by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein") starring Irene Dunne, Allan Jones, Charles Winninger, Paul Robeson, Helen Morgan, Helen Westley, Queenie Smith, Sammy White, Donald Cook, Hattie McDaniel, Sunnie O'Dea, "and a Cast of Thousands". Note that Universal had previously made a version of this classic stage play in 1929 (starring Lauira LaPlante, Joseph Schildkraut, and Jules Bledsoe), and it was remade again in 1951 (starring Howard Keel, Ava Gardner, and William Warfield)!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned a different style first release half-sheet, but we have never before auctioned this style of first release half-sheet! Also note that the half-sheet was folded once in each direction at one time. Because the folds are such that they have not diminished over time, AND because the poster was folded down the exact center in each direction, then we MAY fold the half-sheet prior to mailing, if it reduces shipping costs, and if you do not also purchase other half-sheets that need to be sent rolled.

Condition: fair. The poster has much water staining scattered across the top 3-4" and along the bottom border, extending up into the bottom center of the image. The poster had paper loss in the bottom of the right border and someone glued a piece of paper to that area, and there are pinholes, tears, and some small paper loss in the rest of the borders. There are stains in the top center and creases and small tears on parts of the folds. Obviously, this poster has massive defects, but it is also incredibly rare, and the poster can be rescued through restoration, but bear all of the above in mind before bidding on it.
