His acting career began with uncredited parts in films such as Mata Hari and serials such as Flash Gordon and S.O.S. Coast Guard, but he is best remembered as a villain in countless cowboy westerns with Johnny Mack Brown, Buck Jones, Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, and more. Some of his films include: Ghost of Zorro, The Way West, and Monte Walsh. He passed away in 1969 at the age of 67. Important Added Info: Note that this letter has been personally autographed (signed) by Roy Barcroft! Ken Jones wrote him a letter asking for information about several old time western actors, and Mr. Barcroft replied with this handwritten letter, saying that he knows little about those actors (see our images). Also note that this auction also includes the envelope this letter was originally mailed in! Note that this item was consigned to us from the family of Ken Jones, who was an author of books about movies (including books about character actors and western stars). In the course of researching his books, he became friends with many Hollywood actors, and he would ask them to autograph stills for him (originals if he had them, or repros if he did not), and they obliged, usually returning the stills to him with a personalized inscription "To Ken". As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
