What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had diagonal tears above and below the left of the top and bottom horizontal foldlines, extending into the image and causing paper loss in the borders at the left end of those foldlines, with some small paper loss within the image. There were similar horizontal tears at the right end of the top and bottom horizontal folds. There were some tiny bits of paper loss in the bottom quarter of the vertical foldline and some staple holes around the edges, and a few within the image. Overall, the poster had real defects in the four areas described above (the left and right of the top and bottom folds), but otherwise was in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, and it had excellent colors, without fading. The poster was really well backed by a top restorer, and displays fantastically (I know the restoration on this poster would not be detected by most collectors, even when they were looking at it close up, and it will display wonderfully on anyone's wall!).
