An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 39 1/2" [70 x 100 cm]) (Learn More)

Intermezzo, the 1936 Gustaf Molander Swedish romantic love triangle music infidelity melodrama starring Gosta Ekman, Inga Tidblad, Ingrid Bergman, Erik 'Bullen' Berglund (billed as "Bullen Berglund"), Hasse Ekman (billed as "Hans Ekman", who was the real life son of star Gosta Ekman), and Hugo Bjorne. Note that after producer David O. Selznick saw Ingrid Bergman in her Swedish movies, he was certain that she would be a huge star if she made Hollywood movies, so he signed her to a contract in 1938. To play it safe, for her first U.S. movie, he chose to re-make this movie, and the U.S. version was released in 1939. Selznick's instincts were correct (as he had been so often before, and would be again), and Bergman DID become a huge international star!

Artist: Eric Rohman
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this Swedish movie! There is a real oddity to this poster. We are currently auctioning a three-panel Swedish poster from this movie, where Bergman is third billed on that poster. But there is another style of Swedish poster that is this size where she is also second billed. We wonder if maybe the three-panel was prepared early in production, and that her billing moved up between when that poster was made and when the movie was released. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: fair to good. The poster was never folded. Unfortunately, it has paper loss in the bottom right corner that affects the SF logo and the grey background behind it. It also has some tears in the blank borders and small paper loss in the top right blank corner and tiny paper loss in the top left blank corner. We can supply the high bidder of this poster (and only the high bidder!) with a high quality scan of the missing bottom right corner that would greatly aid in the restoration of this very rare poster.
