Famous nose!"; based on the superb play by Edmund Rostand; about the best swordsman in France who is also a poet and author, but he has an extremely large nose, which prevents him from declaring his love for his beautiful cousin, and circumstances cause him to end up helping his rival win her hand!) starring Jose Ferrer (billed as "America's first actor"; "Academy Award Winner ...because... he was the Three Musketeers in one ... and one lover in a million!"; winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Cyrano), Mala Powers (as Roxanne), William Prince (as Christian), Morris Carnovsky, Ralph Clanton, Lloyd Corrigan, Virginia Farmer, and Elena Verdugo NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that when this movie was first released in late 1950 to qualify for the Academy Awards it only played in very few theaters. There are two types of posters known from the 1951 general release. One, during its limited release in the U.S. before the Oscars were awarded were prepared with the tagline "The most loved of all love stories!". The other type, from after Ferrer won the Best Actor Oscar, has mention of that, and also "Now at popular prices!". We have previously auctioned two examples of the insert from the later release, but we have never before auctioned this pre-Oscar style (and all posters from this pre-Oscar release are extremely rare! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but because it has been laying flat for a long time our intention is to send it rolled in a tube. However, because we are certain it would not harm it to re-fold it (because the folds are still there and have not diminished), we can also re-fold it if the buyer needs it to be shipped with folded items. Condition: good to very good. The poster has two extra horizontal folds, with minor wear on all the folds. There is tiny paper loss in the bottom corners, with an uneven tear in the bottom left corner that was repaired with tape from the back, and a small tear near the middle of the bottom border that was also repaired with tape from the back. There are a few smudges to the right of Ferrer's credit. Other than the above, the poster is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
