An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style Z Thirty by Forty Movie Poster (30x40; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock romantic crime mystery thriller ("It's a web of romance and suspense that spins you from delight to danger - then spirals to an explosive climax on the fabulous Riviera!"; "Based on the novel by David Dodge"; "Screenplay by John Michael Hayes"; about a retired jewel thief living on the Riviera, and there is a string of daring jewel robberies, so naturally, he is the lead suspect, and he decides to find the true thief himself, and he is aided by a beautiful rich young woman and her mother!) starring Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Jessie Royce Landis, John Williams, Charles Vanel, Brigitte Auber, Rene Blancard, Georgette Anys, and Jean Martinelli. Note that Cary Grant had announced his retirement from movies in 1953, but he was lured out of retirement by Hitchcock to make this one. Also note that Jessie Royce Landis, who had played Grant's mother in "North by Northwest", this time played his potential mother-in-law, and yet, she was only eight years older than Grant, who had aged very well! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned two examples of this style Z 30x40 poster, and the last one was 10 years ago. The person who bought it (for $1,805) has now reconsigned it to us, so this is still only one of two examples we have ever auctioned! Note that this is an original release poster from 1955. In 1963 it was used during the re-release of the movie, and a poster exchange stamped it with the re-release NSS number in the middle of the left and right blank borders. This is a very minor defect, and in no way does it affect the poster's originality. This IS an original 1955 release poster that was simply re-used in 1963. Condition: good to very good. There are creases scattered throughout the poster, including in the faces of the stars. Otherwise, the poster only has some pretty minor border wear, with many creases in the top blank border and two small tears near the center. From a reasonable viewing distance, the creases in the poster are not that distracting, or certainly, the new owner could choose to have restoration performed, but bear this in mind before placing a bid on this extremely rare poster!
