An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry, the 1945 Robert Siodmak romantic crime film noir ("From the Play that shocked Broadway!"; "Directed by Robert Siodmak who gave you 'The Suspect' and 'Christmas Holiday'"; "From the Play by Thomas Job as produced on the Stage by Clifford Hayman"; about a long time bachelor who lives with his two sisters, and he finally finds romance, but one of his sisters does everything she can to break it up, until finally, he considers killing his own sister!; the source play had a very dark ending, but in typical Hollywood fashion, the film version changed the ending to a much happier one) starring George Sanders (in the title role as Harry), Geraldine Fitzgerald, Ella Raines, Moyna MacGill, Sara Allgood, and Harry Von Zell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair to good. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, either because the restorer did not do a very good job, or because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds, creases, tiny tears, and tiny dots of paper loss on parts of some foldlines, and some pinholes around the edges. The poster was not that well backed, because you can see signs of the above general defects and the restoration of the defects (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects). I would think few collectors would want to display it as it is, without someone performing some additional restoration. Certainly, a talented restorer could perform additional restoration (either with or without re-backing the poster), but it might be fairly expensive to have this done, so bear that in mind before you place a bid. Note that the poster was backed onto a very thin linen, and at some point after it was backed, it was very roughly handled, and there is now a very long diagonal crease in the upper left and a slightly shorter diagonal crease and small area of paper loss in the lower left, and the creases are both in the poster and the linen itself. If I owned this poster, I would surely have it removed from the current thin linen and re-backed. Learn More about condition grades
