An Original Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 6 1/2" x 13 1/2" [17 x 34 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) Dracula (released in the U.S. as "Horror of Dracula" and "Dracula 1958"), the classic 1958 Terence Fisher English Hammer vampire horror thriller ("The chill of the tomb won't leave your blood for hours... After you come face-to-face with Dracula !"; "Who will be his bride tonight?"; "The terrifying lover who died... Yet lived!"; "The chill of the tomb won't leave your blood for hours... after you come face-to-face with Dracula !"; "Don't dare see it... alone!"; "All New! In Brilliant Technicolor!"; "Screenplay by Jimmy Sangster"; "From the novel by Bram Stoker") starring Peter Cushing (as Doctor Van Helsing), Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, Carol Marsh, Christopher Lee (in the title role "as Dracula"), John Van Eyssen, Valerie Gaunt, and Janina Faye. Note that this was the very first of the Hammer Dracula movies! Given how popular they are today, it seems surprising that it took two years to make a sequel (The Brides of Dracula in 1960), and even more surprising that Christopher Lee did not reprise his role (David Peel took over in this one). To be fair, Christopher Lee had played Sherlock Holmes in the interim, and that was probably more interesting to him. Hammer and he didn't return to Dracula until 1966 with Dracula: Prince of Darkness, and there were five more Dracula Hammer movies between 1968 and 1972! Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this English pressbook, which is a "country of origin" item for this historic English movie (the very first Hammer Dracula movie), and it sold for $759! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this English pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut.
