An Original Vintage Unfolded Russian Original Movie Poster Artwork (measures 31" x 41 1/4" [79 x 105 cm]) (Learn More) Prozreniye (literally translates to "Insight"), the 1966 Shukhrat Abbasov Russian melodrama starring Mukhtar Aga-Mirzayev, Gulchekhra Dzhamilova, Sairam Isayev, Hikmat Latypov, Maryam Yakubov, and Svetlana Norbaeva. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Tsarev Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned the movie poster for this film, but what is offered here is the original artwork for the poster! It is signed by the artist, and it has the title of the film down the center (which are a series of nine snipes, one for each letter), but the other credits were added when the actual poster was printed. One almost never sees any original movie poster art for auction, and when it is offered, it is usually at very high prices. This is even more remarkable, because it is the original art for a Russian movie poster, and one made during the Cold War era! Note that the artwork is printed on a lightweight paper stock, similar to that used for U.S. 30x40s (and heavier than the paper used to print Russian posters). It was originally two separate sheets of paper that were glued together slightly below the middle, with a slight overlap (likely the artist could not acquire a single sheet that was the size needed). It has much Russian writing on the back in pencil, and we feel certain it is the actual original artwork! The original artwork was consigned to us from the estate of Robert DePietro, and unfortunately, we don't know how he acquired it (and one other Russian original movie poster art that we are auctioning in a separate auction). Perhaps he met the artist and purchased them from him directly! Condition: good to very good. As noted above, the art was painted on two sheets, designed to overlap slightly below center (it is where the white and black line that runs across the poster is). The art has a pinhole in each corner and small tears scattered down the right border, with the tiniest of paper loss on a few of the tears. There is minor wear in the other borders. As noted above, the nine letters of the title were glued onto the poster via paper snipes. Learn More about condition grades
