An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14" x 20 3/4" [36 x 53 cm]) (Learn More) Ladri di Biciclette (released in the U.S. in 1949 as "The Bicycle Thief" and in England as "Bicycle Thieves"), the classic 1948 Vittorio De Sica Italian neorealist melodrama ("Academy Award outstanding foreign language film 1949"; about a man and his son who search for a vital missing bicycle; most people rightfully consider this one of the handful of absolute finest movies ever made!) starring Lamberto Maggiorani, Enzo Staiola, Lianella Carell, Gino Saltamerenda, and Vittorio Antonucci. Note that the Italian title literally translates to "The Bicycle Thieves", but for unknown reasons, the movie became "The Bicycle Thief" when it was released in English-speaking countries! Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned a number of Italian posters from this re-release, but we have NEVER before auctioned this Belgian poster, which has the same great art. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had minor wear on the folds. It had pinholes, stains, and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer painted over the blank borders, to "even them out". Learn More about condition grades
