An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

The Texan, the 1930 John Cromwell Texas cowboy western (based on the story 'The Double-Dyed Deceiver' by O. Henry; a complicated story of a young bandit who gets into a poker game and catches a man cheating, and kills him in self defense, but he is charged with murder, and he escapes, and falls in with a crook who hires him to impersonate the missing young heir of a rich South American widow, with plans to steal her gold; he falls in love with her niece, and he discovers that the missing heir is the person who cheated him in the card game, so he tries to leave, but the crook tries to steal the gold anyway, and the crook is killed, and he is reported as being the missing "Llano Kid", which neatly allows the hero to go off with the niece!) starring Gary Cooper (as the Llano Kid), Fay Wray, Emma Dunn, Oscar Apfel, James A. Marcus, and Donald Reed

Important Added Info: Note that first release 1930 movie posters from this Gary Cooper western are incredibly rare. We have never sold even a single poster from this movie until we received this window card! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had circular hole in the bottom left black background area and another in the blue background to the right of the wanted sign. It had a few other tiny holes and dot stains scattered in the image, and some tears and stains around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
