Ciro's was of course the world famous nightclub in West Hollywood, California, on Sunset Boulevard in the Sunset Strip. It was open from 1940 until 1957. It was one of the main places for celebrities to go to, and anyone who was anybody could be seen there at any given night, including all the top celebrities throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Like most famous nightclubs, they would have a photographer walk around taking pictures, and you could purchase the photos from the photographer. These photos were obtained from a woman whose father was dating the female camera girl at Ciro's, and she gave him these copies of photos of very famous celebrities eating at the restaurant. Some of them were glued to album pages and some were not. Stars include Marlene Dietrich, Rock Hudson, Robert Mitchum, Lana Turner, Betty Grable, Debbie Reynolds, Judy Holliday, and many, many others! We don't know the exact dates these photos were taken, but certainly someone could make a good guess based on the appearance of the celebrities in the images. If anyone knows more about these, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: Note that these photos measure 5" x 7" [13 x 18 cm]. Ten of the photos are "loose" and the other ten are glued to album pages, two to each page (on the fronts only). They are on a special kind of album page that had a side area that folded over the edges of the stills, so the portion of the stills on the album page that shows is approximately 4 3/4" x 6 1/2" (see our images of the album pages). The stills are firmly glued down, and it would likely take a professional to separate them from the pages (or one could simply display them as they are). We have identified who most of the people are in the stills, and we put post-it notes on the stills telling who we know, and those will be sent to the buyer of this lot to help them identify the stars if they need help. Condition: good to very good. The ten "loose" stills have varying amounts of wear around the edges (a few have pinholes or tiny tears, and most have some creases or scuffs). The ten on the album pages are completely glued down, and a portion of the album page folds over and covers part of the edges of the stills (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
