An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Presskit (measures approximately 9" x 11 1/2"; contains 6 supplements, and 16 stills) (Learn More) John Ford's Cheyenne Autumn, the 1964 John Ford Native American Indian epic cowboy western ("1,500 miles of heroism and incredible adventure!"; "Now the mightiest true adventure of all! Filmed by 6-time Academy Award winner John Ford... With a massive all-star cast!"; "[1] Thousands of troops sent west to pursue ragged band of Cheyenne. [2] Dull knife counterattacks a Fort Robinson Barracks to cover fleeing tribe. [3] Captain Thomas Archer and fiancee face peril of imminent massacre. [4] Red Shirt precipitates major encounter. [5] Frontier bathed in blood from Powder River to Beecher Island. [6] Indians face starvation as white hunters slaughter buffalo from trains. [7] Incredible frozen flight through savage winter. [8] Running fight, Dodge City vs. Cheyenne. [9] Medicine Lodge treaty"; "In its tremendous spectacle and excitement and in its torrent of emotions, it is the motion picture that must never be forgotten!"; about the outrageous mistreatment of Native American Indians) starring Richard Widmark, Carroll Baker, Karl Malden, Sal Mineo, Ricardo Montalban, Dolores Del Rio, Gilbert Roland, Arthur Kennedy, James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; "as Wyatt Earp"), Edward G. Robinson ("as the Secretary of the Interior"), John Carradine, and George O'Brien. Note that George O'Brien had been a World War I soldier and Navy boxing champion, and after he left the Navy, he worked as a stuntman, and in 1924, John Ford picked him to star in his silent epic "The Iron Horse". He became a major silent star, and worked consistently in the 1930s, and then he re-enlisted at the start of World War II, when he was over 40 years old! After the war, his old friend and mentor John Ford gave him parts in three westerns, including this one! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that not only is this one of the earliest presskits I have seen, but also, all of the stills are NOT from the movie, but are images of the cast members (mostly Carroll Baker) doing publicity for the movie, including images of Baker in a Native American Indian costume! Also note that this presskit comes with the printed envelope from Warner Bros. that it was mailed in. Also note that because this presskit is missing its folder (or it was made without one), we have taken a picture of the printed envelope from Warner Bros. and four of the stills (less than four if the presskit has less than four stills, of course). We have noted if the presskit contains any supplements, but we do not picture them. All of the presskits are sealed and ready to be sent, and we cannot answer any questions about the contents, especially about what any stills we may have not pictured show. REMEMBER TO LOOK AT THE TOP OF THIS AUCTION TO SEE HOW MANY STILLS ARE INCLUDED WITH THIS PRESSKIT, BECAUSE WE NEVER PICTURE MORE THAN FOUR OF THEM (and we pretty much picked four stills at random). Condition: fine. The presskit is in quite nice condition! Note that the vast majority of the presskits we are auctioning this week were carefully stored away for many years, and the stills are usually in really excellent condition. Sometimes the folder that contains the stills has some wear on it, and you should be able to see that in our super-sized image. We give an overall condition grade to each presskit, but remember that almost all of the stills are in excellent condition. Learn More about condition grades
