An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Way Back Home, the 1931 William A. Seiter adventure melodrama ("Idol of Radio Now on the Screen"; "Colossus of radio now on the screen.."; "Idol of 10,000,000 radio fans"; "All America rises to his call! New Colossus of radio! ...He brings genius to the screen in heart-drama struck from the soul of America... A great show... it storms the senses... warms the heart... exalts your whole being!"; "Seth Parker" was a very popular radio show at this time, about a kindly old man in a small town who fixes everybody's troubles, and the show's starring character name was billed above the title instead of the actor who played him, Phillips Lord!) starring Phillips Lord (billed as "Seth Parker and his Jonesport Neighbors"), Frank Albertson, Dorothy Peterson, Bette Davis, and Effie Palmer. Note that Bette Davis had had three small roles for Universal, but had not made much impact, and she didn't in this movie for RKO either. Her next movie was for Columbia, and then she made one for a minor studio, and it is surprising that it took this long for studios to recognize her great star power! Note that she was so unknown at this time (and Seth Parker was such a major radio show) that the studio did not even include Davis' image on almost all of the movie paper! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this title card! As noted above, Bette Davis was not pictured on any of the posters we have seen, but she IS prominently shown on this title card, making it even more desirable! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. There was very tiny paper loss in each left blank corner, and someone taped a piece of another card to those areas. There are a few faint stains in the borders and very light rippling in the right of the bottom border, but it is more "felt" than seen. Learn More about condition grades
