An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 46" x 63" [117 x 160 cm]) (Learn More) Tarquinio il superbo (released in English-speaking countries as "Tarquin the Proud"), the 1911 Italian silent historical Roman melodrama short starring Alfredo Robert (in the title role as Tarquin), Gastone Monaldi, and Fanny Liona. Note that Tarquin is a vague historical figure that may have been mythical, or may have actually lived. He was the seventh and last King of Rome, and reigned from 534 to 509 B.C. He was an absolute tyrant, and he presided over a reign of terror, during which many people were killed, including many senators. Finally, a group of senators, including one ironically named Lucius Junius Brutus, conspired to overthrow him, and he and his family were expelled from Rome! If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: V. Lorant-Heilbronn Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and creases, scuffs, and some minor wear on the foldlines and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, but it was auctioned by another auction, and they put their auction sticker in the bottom excess linen directly under the poster (but this could be easily removed).
