An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the 1916 Stuart Paton silent science fiction (sci-fi) underwater deep sea exploration submarine action adventure thriller ("Scenes from ocean, earth and sky are shown in the Universal's first and only submarine drama"; "Filmed at he bottom of the ocean"; based on the 1869 Jules Verne novel of the same name) starring Lois Alexander, Curtis Benton, Wallis Clarke, Howard Crampton, Jane Gail, Joseph W. Girard, and Allen Holubar (as Captain Nemo). Note that there had been an even earlier silent version in 1907, but after this version, the next adaptation of this movie was not until the Disney version in 1954. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good.
