An Original 1940 (from the first release of this movie in Sweden) Vintage Theatrical Folded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 38 3/4" [70 x 98 cm]) (Learn More) Charlie Chan in Reno, the 1939 Norman Foster Nevada Asian detective gambling mystery crime thriller ("Based on the original story 'Death Makes a Decree' by Philip Wylie"; "Based on the character 'Charlie Chan' created by Earl Derr Biggers") starring Sidney Toler (as Charlie Chan), Ricardo Cortez, Phyllis Brooks, Slim Summerville, Kane Richmond, Victor Sen Yung (billed as "Sen Yung"), Pauline Moore, Eddie Collins, Kay Linaker, Louise Henry, Robert Lowery, and Charles D. Brown. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Eric Rohman Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare Swedish movie poster featuring striking artwork by Eric Rohman. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has light fold and border wear and there are a few tiny creases near the upper crossfold. There are a few tiny creases and small tears along just a few portions of the right edge, but otherwise the ultra rare poster is in pretty nice condition (see our image)!
