An Original Vintage Unfolded Autographed Special Film Festival Movie Poster (measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]) (Learn More) The Wizard of Oz, the classic 1939 Victor Fleming family magical fantasy adventure musical ("MGM's miracle musical show of shows!"; "It's Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Technicolor triumph!"; "Magnificent in its brilliant Technicolor splendor!"; "At Last It's Here Biggest Sensation Since "Snow White"!"; "The mighty miracle show that is the talk of America!"; "Amazing sights to see! The Tornado, Munchkinland, Horse of a Different Color, Startling Balloon Ascent, The Flying Monkeys, The Tree That Throws Apples"; "Gaiety! Glory! Glamour!"; based on the classic book of the same name by L. Frank Baum; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Judy Garland (as Dorothy), Frank Morgan (in the title role as The Wizard of Oz!), Ray Bolger (as The Scarecrow), Bert Lahr (as The Cowardly Lion), Jack Haley (as The Tin Man), Billie Burke (as Glinda, the Good Witch), Margaret Hamilton (as the Wicked Witch), Charley Grapewin, "The Munchkins", and Toto too! Note that MGM was worried about how well this movie would do at the box office, and they did something we don't remember seeing on any other major movie advertising! One of the taglines says "Biggest sensation since Snow White", which means MGM was advertising a Walt Disney movie, but that shows just how worried they were! Of course, they needn't have worried, because this was a timeless classic that has only improved with age. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Machin Important Added Info: Note that this poster (which was created for the 1992 Wizard of Oz Festival in Chesterton, Indiana) has been personally autographed (signed) by NINE of the 1939 Wizard of Oz Munchkins, including Clarence Swenson (a soldier), Jerry Maren (a Lollipop kid), Emil Krenzler (a townsman), Margaret Pellegrini (a flowerpot Munchkin), Karl Slover (a trumpet player in the band), Fern Formica (a sleepyhead kid), Lewis Kroft (a soldier), Betty Tanner (a villager) and Mickey Carroll (the town crier/fiddler who escorts Dorothy). Note that Emil Krenzler's wife also signed, as did Mary Ellen St. Aubin, who was the wife of another Munchkin. This festival was held annually from 1981 to 1995. Our consignor obtained this from one of the co-chairs of the convention, Dave Butler, who was close friends with Fern Formica. Fern went around and got the autographs and gave the poster to Dave. He has passed away and he of course did not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are 100% certain the autographs are authentic. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has a few creases. Learn More about condition grades
