An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Singing Cowgirl, the 1939 Samuel Diege female cowgirl cowboy western starring Dorothy Page, Dave 'Tex' O'Brien (billed as "David O'Brien"), Vince Barnett, Warner Richmond, and Dorothy Short. Dorothy Page had a very interesting background! She married a doctor in 1925 when she was 21, and in the early 1930s, they were struggling, and she auditioned for Paul Whiteman, and became a singer with his band. In 1935, she was signed by Universal and appeared in two movies, but they dropped her. In 1937, Grand National, which was on the verge of bankruptcy after their disastrous loss on Something to Sing About, signed her to become "The Singing Cowgirl", and they made four movies with her over two years, but those did not do well, and the series was killed. She had several marriages and personal misfortunes, and she passed away in 1961 at the age of 57. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: fair. The poster was kraftbacked (see above). It has a large snipe at lower center and a large censor stamp at upper right.
