The Letter, the classic 1940 William Wyler (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) Singapore romantic love triangle murder blackmail crime film noir ("Fascinating, tantalizing and dangerous!"; based on the novel "by W. Somerset Maugham"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about an unfaithful wife of a Singapore rubber plantation owner who is spurned by her lover and shoots him, and then pretends it was an accident, and she almost gets away with it, but there is a letter she wrote that is incriminating, but can she get the letter destroyed, and what will her husband think?) starring Bette Davis (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Herbert Marshall (who had a lesser role in the 1929 version of this film), James Stephenson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Frieda Inescort, Gale Sondergaard, and Victor Sen Yung

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that, immediately after World War II, the U.S. occupied Japan and part of Germany, and many American movies were shown in both countries between 1945 and the end of the occupation. Most of the Japanese posters we have seen from that period and many of the German posters and programs from the same period have a "Motion Picture Export Association" (MPEA) circular printed logo on the poster or program, and apparently this was a program run in conjunction with the U.S. government. Since there were many U.S. servicemen in Japan and Germany at this time, many of these posters and programs have the title written in both Japanese (or German) and in English. Note also that this Japanese B3 poster measures 13" x 20" [33 x 51 cm]. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: very good. The poster is in pretty nice condition.
