An Original 1970 (from the first release of this movie in the Czech Republic) Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Czechoslovakian Movie Poster (measures 22 3/4" x 32" [58 x 81 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, the classic 1963 Alfred Hitchcock suspense horror thriller ("Nothing you have ever witnessed before has prepared you for such sheer stabbing shock!"; "'It could be the most terrifying motion picture I have ever made!' - Alfred Hitchcock"; "'...and remember, the next scream you hear may be your own!'"; "The birds is here!"; "Daphne Du Maurier's shattering psychic thriller."; "Based on Daphne Du Maurier's Classic Suspense Story!") starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, Tippi Hedren (billed as "Introducing 'Tippi' Hedren, A Fascinating New Personality"), Veronica Cartwright (13 years old), and Richard Deacon. Note that Alfred Hitchcock used the two taglines "The birds is coming!" and "The birds is here!" on several different types of advertising for this movie, no doubt because he thought it was funny that while it is technically grammatically correct when referring to the movie, they "sound wrong"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Josef Vyletal Important Added Info: Note that under a knowledgeable collector points out that the art on this poster was created by Czech artist J. Vyletal as an homage to expressionist/surrealist Max Ernst, and the image in the foreground is Vyletal's re-creation of Ernst's 1940 painting "The Robing of the Bride", and the background of the art is newly created by J. Vyletal. Also note that this poster contains artwork of unclothed women, so we have placed a white bar over those areas, for those who are bothered by such images. Of course, the actual poster does not have those white bars! Condition: very good. There are a few 3/4" and smaller tears around the edges of the poster with some that have been neatly repaired with small pieces of clear tape from the back. There are minor creases throughout the poster (more so around the edges). The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well from a reasonable viewing distance, but if one chose to have it linenbacked it would look fantastic!
