An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Howard Hawks' Monkey Business (released in some countries as "Darling I'm Growing Younger", because apparently "Monkey Business" meant nothing in other countries!), the 1952 Howard Hawks fantasy Fountain-of-Youth screwball comedy ("This is Monkey Business... And this is Monkey Business and this is Monkey Business... And of course this is Monkey Business... And thereby hangs a tale!"; "Monkey Business is some fun!"; "Story by Harry Segall"; "Screen Play by Ben Hecht, Charles Lederer and I.A.L. Diamond"; a truly wacky story of an inventor trying to find a "youth serum", and he experiments on chimps, and one of the chimps escapes and manages to create the serum, which the scientist then accidentally takes, and he becomes like a teenager, and then so does his wife!) starring Cary Grant, Ginger Rogers, Charles Coburn, Marilyn Monroe (in a small role as a sexy secretary hired by the now "youthful" Cary Grant), Hugh Marlowe, Henri Letondal, Robert Cornthwaite, Larry Keating, Douglas Spencer, Esther Dale, and George Winslow. Note that after Marilyn Monroe's great success at the start of the 1950s, 20th Century-Fox, who had her under contract, wisely found small parts for her in lots of their movies in 1951 and 1952! Also, note that there is a Marx Bros. movie from 1931 called "Monkey Business", but it has nothing to do with this movie. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not well restored. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would surely benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds and creases, tears, and areas of paper loss in the top 1/4 of the vertical foldline. There were some creases and tiny tears on the other folds and there were tears and small areas of paper loss in the right edge of the top foldline and in the left of the top foldline between Grant and the rope. There were smudges and uneven areas in the white background. The poster was not very well backed many years ago. If I owned the poster, I would have it re-backed.
