An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Brother Orchid, the 1940 Lloyd Bacon gangster-on-the-run crime screwball comedy ("We'd like youse to meet Brother Orchid"; "Based on the Collier's magazine story by Richard Connell"; about a gangster who hides out in a monastery, and pretends to join the order, with great comic results!) starring Edward G. Robinson (in the title role as Little John Sarto/Brother Orchid), Ann Sothern, Humphrey Bogart (in one of his many unsympathetic gangster roles, after making The Petrified Forest, but before Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon), Donald Crisp, Ralph Bellamy, Allen Jenkins, and Paul Guilfoyle NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair to good. The poster is somewhat brittle and there is much tattering and separation along the foldlines (more so at center in Robinson's image). There is light rippling and some darkening throughout the poster from exposure to moisture. There is a stain in the vertical fold at upper and lower center. There are some pin holes in each corner of the poster. It is possible that a professional restorer or talented amateur could linenback this poster and it would look great but please do NOT bid on this poster unless you are willing to accept its defects!
