An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian One-Panel (known in Italy as a "2 Fogli") Movie Poster (1p; measures 39" x 55" [99 x 140 cm]) (Learn More) La partita (released straight to video in the U.S. as "The Gamble"), the 1988 Carlo Vanzina Italian historical romantic gambling melodrama (about a young man who returns home to find that his father lost his estate to a beautiful older woman while gambling with her, and he offers her a wager of her putting up his father's estate against his agreeing to be her personal slave, and he loses, and he doesn't live up to his bargain, so she needs to hunt him down!) starring Matthew Modine, Faye Dunaway, Jennifer Beals, Ian Bannen, and Corinne Clery. Note that all three of these top stars had had significant success prior to the making of this movie, but they were at a low point in their career, which is likely why they agreed to make this movie, which was an Italian production. Everyone agrees that Matthew Modine was terribly miscast, and reviewers are not kind to the movie as a whole. This is likely why it could not find a U.S. distributor for theaters, and it ended up going straight to video, even with having top name stars! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
