A 1950 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) City Lights, the classic 1931 Charlie Chaplin silent romantic comedy melodrama (written and directed by Charles Chaplin; Chaplin is a Tramp who befriends a blind flower seller, and he loves her, but is afraid she can't return his love; the movie includes a memorable boxing scene, and a wonderful final scene where the girl is cured of her blindness) starring Charles Chaplin, Virginia Cherrill, Florence Lee, Harry Myers, Al Ernest Garcia, and Hank Mann. Note that Charlie Chaplin stood alone against the coming of sound to movies, and he made this movie as a silent movie, although it had a soundtrack which included the song "Smile", which Chaplin himself wrote. He would release another silent movie, "Modern Times", in 1936, and then finally agreed to make sound pictures! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There is marker writing on the back of the poster that very slightly bleeds through to the front at upper right, but it is not very noticeable or distracting. There is minor separation at the ends of the foldlines and there are a few small tears around the edges of the poster. The poster is otherwise in generally nice condition.
