An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 39 1/4") (Learn More) Tower of London, the 1939 Rowland V. Lee Universal historical England horror thriller (about a duke who is sixth in line to be the King of England, and he decides to speed up the process by killing those in his way, with the help of the royal executioner at the Tower of London, where enemies of England were beheaded) starring Basil Rathbone (as the Duke of Gloucester), Boris Karloff (as the executioner, Mord), Barbara O'Neil, Ian Hunter, Vincent Price (as George, Duke of Clarence), Nan Grey, John Sutton, Leo G. Carroll, Miles Mander, Lionel Belmore, Rose Hobart, John Herbert-Bond (as young Prince Richard), "and cast of thousands". Note that Boris Karloff appeared to be bald in this movie, but his head was not shaved. It was done through makeup by Jack Pierce, who had made up Karloff for the Frankenstein movies. The poster had two vertical folds and two horizontal folds, and there were creases, tiny tears, and fine surface paper loss on parts of many foldlines. There were some creases, smudges, and tiny tears around the edges of the poster, and some smudges scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but at some point after it was linenbacked, it was roughly handled, and it was creased along the bottom horizontal foldline of the poster, and there is now a crease in both the poster and the linen itself.
