A 1982 Re-Release Theatrical Unfolded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Empire Strikes Back (now known as "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back"), the classic 1980 Irvin Kershner science fiction (sci-fi) outer space action adventure sequel ("The Star Wars Saga Continues"; "Story by George Lucas") starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Billy Dee Williams (as Lando Calrissian), Anthony Daniels ("as C-3PO"), David Prowse ("as Darth Vader"), Kenny Baker ("as R2-D2"), Peter Mayhew ("as Chewbacca"), Frank Oz ("as Yoda"), Alec Guinness (as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Jeremy Bulloch (as Boba Fett), and John Hollis (as Lobot)v NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Tom Jung Important Added Info: Note that this is the unfolded "NSS style" version of this poster, but unlike the "regular" NSS style, which has a dark blue background, THIS poster has a light blue background (it has been long referred to by advanced Star Wars collectors as the "teal background style", although we don't know that teal is the best word to describe this color!), and we think it is surely a "test" poster (meaning it was printed solely to get people's opinion of the colors, and it would have surely been printed in a very limited quantity), which would account for its great rarity! We would think that after studio people (including likely George Lucas) saw this poster, they did not like the color at all, and immediately changed it to a dark blue, and we would be amazed if any of these light blue background one-sheets were distributed to theaters. We have only auctioned this style ONE time before (in 2014, and that one was linenbacked and restored, and it sold for $1,200) and it is certainly one of the most rare Empire Strikes Back posters there is! Note that this special "all Star Wars" auction began with a phone call from a VERY long time collector of Star Wars posters! He told us that he had reached a point in his life where he was wanting to sell his collection, and he asked if we could do it all at one time. Because he had 174 posters (including many of the most rare and desirable ones), we were happy to comply, but we told him that we would like to also add additional rare Star Wars posters from other collectors, and he agreed, and after we were consigned an additional 117 posters and related items, we have our auction! We asked the person who assembled the amazing collection of 174 posters in this auction to share with us a written history of how he came to assemble this amazing collection, and if you CLICK HERE, you will be taken to a separate page that shows you what he wrote for us! Condition: good. The poster was never machine folded. It has some light horizontal creases scattered throughout, with a tiny tear in the bottom blank border and small creases around the edges in the borders. It has tiny stains in the bottom right of the poster, in the light blue area (see our image). It has a 1" wide area down the center of the poster, where the color is printed differently than the rest of the poster (you see this most in the teal background at top and bottom and in parts of the image area, most strongly Vader's shoulder). We would think this is almost certainly a "test" poster (see above), and it is likely that they were not careful during the printing, which would account for why it has this printing defect. The only other example of this poster we auctioned did not appear to have this defect at all, so it may be specific to this one poster, but since the other poster was restored, we can't say for certain. Obviously, one could have this printing defect corrected through restoration (and at the same time, one could address the creases in the image and the border defects), but we certainly would understand someone wanting to keep this incredibly rare poster just as it is. Please look at our super-sized image to see exactly what this printing defect is and what condition the poster is in. Learn More about condition grades
