But these two had the courage to hope... And to live their love!"; "From the best-selling novel by Daphne de Maurier"; "Gloriously she loved him... though a dread suspicion gnawed at her heart! The secret of Manderley... challenging, mysterious... broods over a powerful drama of two lonely people who lived on courage and hope!"; "Produced by David O. Selznick who made 'Gone With the Wind'"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; about a young woman who marries a rich and powerful widower after a short romance, and she feels she is in constant competition with her husband's dead wife, or is she?) starring Laurence Olivier (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; "Hero of Wuthering Heights"), Joan Fontaine (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "in her sensational starring debut"), George Sanders, Judith Anderson (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Gladys Cooper, Nigel Bruce, Reginald Denny, C. Aubrey Smith, and Florence Bates NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this movie was first released in Belgium some time during World War II, and the poster for that release measured 12" x 17" (typical of posters released there at that time, due to massive paper shortages). In 1948 or 1949, the movie was re-released, and the Belgian poster for that release measured 14" x 22" (but it appears that it was printed from the same plates as that original small ploster, because the image area of the re-release poster only measures 10" x 14", with large white borders, which also explains why some of those posters show up trimmed). The main difference between the two posters is different printer information. Condition: very good to fine. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). The poster had lightly folded across the middle. It appears there was once a snipe attached to the top blank border, because there is slight surface paper loss across the center of the top blank area. Otherwise, the poster was in nice condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
