A 1949 Re-Release Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Ape Man, the 1943 William Beaudine science fiction (sci-fi) monster horror thriller (based on the story by Karl Brown) starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as the monster, Dr. James Brewster), Louise Currie, Wallace Ford, Henry Hall, Minerva Urecal, and Emil Van Horn (as the gorilla). Note that Ray 'Crash' Corrigan and Charles Gemora were two actors who played lots of gorillas in movies in the 1930s and 1940s. Emil Van Horn and Jack Leonard each played around a dozen gorillas, and interestingly, that was all they did (no doubt all four of them owned a gorilla suit!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this 1949 re-release title card before! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fair to good. The top 2-3" was folded at a slight diagonal. There are several tears, pairs of staple holes, tape stains, and smudges around the edges, with some scuffing scattered in the image. There is a long scratch below the word "APE" in the title. There are many tape repairs on the back. See our super-sized images to get a good sense of the condition of this card.
