An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Movie Photolobby (LC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Jesse James, the classic 1939 Henry King Missouri biographical outlaw cowboy western ("You won't get a cash reward. But you'll see the greatest picture in years - when you see Jesse James"; produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; a highly fictionalized biography of the James brothers, and if you only saw this movie, you would think they were really nice heroic misunderstood guys who happened to rob a few banks and trains!; note that the movie ends with Jesse's brother Frank still alive, obviously so that 20th Century Fox could make their 1941 sequel, "The Return of Frank James"!) starring Tyrone Power Jr. (in the title role as Jesse James), Henry Fonda (as Frank James), Nancy Kelly, Randolph Scott, Henry Hull, Slim Summerville, J. Edward Bromberg, Brian Donlevy, John Carradine (as Bob Ford), Donald Meek, John Russell (as Jesse James Jr.), and Jane Darwell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Please note that on this classic movie, and on several other major releases of the 1930s and 1940s, 20th Century Fox issued two entirely different sets of lobby cards! One set was the kind that is regularly seen. The other kind was a "photolobby" set with glossier color scenes from the movie, most often entirely different from the other set, and sometimes the photolobbies were black and white photos that had been hand-colored prior to production. The photolobbies are at least as rare as the regular lobby cards! Also note that this photolobby has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the lobby card was backed onto a very light paper backing (acid-free), that keeps the "feel" of the lobby card similar to that of the original lobby card. Some restorers prefer to paperback lobby cards on to a heavy backing, while others prefer to use a very lightweight backing. The advantage of a lightweight backing is that the card still "feels" like a regular lobby card, but a heavier backing makes restoration easier to do and less noticeable. Condition: good. The card had many creases and scuffs scattered throughout and some creases, tears, pinholes, and tiny areas of paper loss in the borders. The card was well backed, but the restorer painted over all of the blank border areas, to "even them out". The card displays well, and from any reasonable viewing distance, the restoration of the scuffs within the image area are not very noticeable at all. Learn More about condition grades
