An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Long Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 14 3/4" x 36 3/4" [37 x 93 cm]) (Learn More) Full Confession, the 1939 John Farrow religious Irish Catholic murder crime melodrama ("Come prepared to gasp!"; "Here's a drama in the raw!... Hot, stinging emotional impact in this throbbing human-heart story of a killer ... of the girl he loved ... and the one man who knew his murder secret but could never tell! It's different than anything you've seen before!"; about a Catholic priest who visits a convict, who tells him during confession that in addition to the robbery he was convicted for, he also committed a murder, and the priest of course can say nothing, but then another man is arrested for that murder and sentenced to death, and the priest must decide whether to keep his vows and let an innocent man die, or to break his vows!) starring Victor McLaglen, Sally Eilers, Joseph Calleia, Barry Fitzgerald, and Elisabeth Risdon. Note that this movie of course bears similarities to Alfred Hitchcock's "I Confess", and Victor McLaglen plays the man who actually committed the murder, while Joseph Calleia plays the priest, and Barry Fitzgerald plays the man wrongly convicted of murder (one might have suspected that Fitzgerald played the priest, since just a few years later, he would have his most famous role as a priest in "Going My Way")! Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been trimmed and now measures 14 3/4" x 36 3/4". UPDATED 08/28/2013: Note that we have updated the Condition information. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster has had approximately 3 1/4" neatly trimmed from the top blank border (but solely blank white paper was trimmed off). The poster had some brown dot stains in Joseph Calleia's cheek and at the end of McLaglen's credit at lower right, and a few in the bottom border. Otherwise, it had only minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, and they did not replaced the missing top blank area (a talented restorer could touch up the defects within the image without re-backing the poster).
