An Original Undated (probably between 1945 and 1950; see below) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Japanese "B1" Movie Poster (29x41; measures 28 1/2" x 40 1/2" [72 x 103 cm]) (Learn More) The Forest Rangers, the 1942 George Marshall romantic love triangle forest fire firefighting arson crime action thriller ("Blazing adventure! Dazzling spectacle! Fiery romance!"; "In Flaming Technicolor"; "From a story by Thelma Strabel") starring Fred MacMurray, Paulette Goddard, Susan Hayward, Lynne Overman, Albert Dekker, and Eugene Pallette NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, immediately after World War II, the U.S. occupied Japan and part of Germany, and many American movies were shown in both countries between 1945 and the end of the occupation. Most of the Japanese posters we have seen from that period and many of the German posters and programs from the same period have a "Motion Picture Export Association" circular printed logo on the poster or program, and apparently this was a program run in conjunction with the U.S. government. Since there were many U.S. servicemen in Japan and Germany at this time, many of these posters and programs have the title written in both Japanese (or German) and in English, and they are from the first release of that movie in that country. Also note that this is a rare Japanese "B1" poster that measures 28 1/2" x 40 1/2" [72 x 103 cm]! "B1" posters are FAR more rare than "B2" posters (which measure approximately 20" x 28 1/2"), and because they are larger (similar in size to a U.S. one-sheet), they are more impressive when displayed on a wall! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny scuffs and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some foldlines. It had a 3" vertical tear starting at the bottom of Goddard's nose and running into her finger. It had some small tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
