An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Jack Hoxie was born in Oklahoma in 1885 where he learned how to rope and ride horses at an early age. Upon winning rodeo championships, he attained recognition for his skills. By 1914, he went to Hollywood to become a stuntman where his good looks quickly won over studio executives. However, with the advent of sound, his popularity waned (as happened to many silent stars), so he moved to doing Wild West shows until the 1930s when he retired into obscurity. He passed away in 1965 at the age of 80. Important Added Info: Note that this is a circa 1920s stock glass slide for Jack Hoxie ("A Blue Streak Western"; "Directed by Clifford Smith"). Silent movies have a blank space where the title could be written, so a theater could use this slide for any Jack Hoxie movie they were showing. Also note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. The theater that used this slide wrote the name of the movie, as well as the days the movie was playing in the name and play dates section at the bottom of the glass.
