Date Sold 8/16/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Promotional Movie Spur (measures 4" x 5") (Learn More) Cahill: United States Marshal, the 1973 Andrew V. McLaglen cowboy western ("Break the law and he's the Last man you want to see. And the Last you ever will."; "Five killers robbed the Valentine bank. The lucky ones got caught. The rest got Cahill."; "His badge says hello.") starring John Wayne (in the title role as J.D. Cahill), Gary Grimes, Neville Brand, George Kennedy ("as Fraser"), Marie Windsor, Jackie Coogan, Harry Carey Jr., and Neville Brand NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a special promotional item created by Warner Bros. to promote this John Wayne movie. It is a 4" x 5" real working metal spur (with "CAHILL UNITED STATES MARSHAL" printed on one of the sides of the spur) which has a printed tag attached which reads "A MEMENTO of THE OLD WEST from JOHN WAYNE starring in his latest action drama for Warner Bros. CAHILL UNITED STATES MARSHAL" and which has a quote from the character below a headshot of John Wayne! It was sent by Warner Bros. in a special made box with a return address label for the movie attached to the box (see our images). Note that this is a special promotional item sent to Nevart Apikian, who was a movie reviewer for the Syracuse Post Standard. Ms. Apikian was given special treatment by the studios, and it seems very likely that a very limited number of these promotional metal spurs were made, and that they were only sent to very special people, because they surely cost a lot to create! We have never auctioned another example of this before, and we likely never will auction it again. Condition: very good. The spur has darkening on it and we don't know if that is part of how it was created or if it was caused by age. It is difficult to tell, and we would imagine real spurs did have darkening like this, so it certainly could have been created this way. You likely would have to see another example of this to know for sure either way. Otherwise, the spur, the tag, and the box are all in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
