An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Russian Movie Poster (measures 18 1/2" x 25 3/4" [47 x 65 cm]) (Learn More) AIDs Doesn't Sleep (literal translation of the Russian title), the 1990 Russian public health service poster created to educate people about HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) which causes AIDS (Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome) and how to protect themselves from the disease. When AIDS gripped the world in 1981, local authorities, healthcare providers and governments quickly created health posters as a way to inform people about the new disease. These public health campaigns continued for over 20 years and still endure in some parts of the world today. The posters show the different tactics, images (some quite provocative) and messages used by various countries and health agencies in their attempts to educate people about the AIDS/HIV threat. Note that this poster features art of a woman with a bird-like body with wings covered in syringes. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
