Original Vintage Theatrical Style A Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Mermaids, the 1948 Robert Florey Africa jungle action adventure fantasy thriller ("Barbaric rituals!... Savage thrills! Pagan splendors!..."; "Love-Sacrifice to a Heathen Man-God!"; "Scores of gorgeous aqua-cuties... slaves to a villainous idol's will!"; "Original story and screen play by Carroll Young"; "Based upon the characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs") starring Johnny Weissmuller (in the title role as Tarzan), Brenda Joyce (as Jane), Linda Christian (billed as "introducing Linda Christian"), George Zucco, and Andrea Palma. Note that Maureen O'Sullivan tired of playing Jane in the Tarzan movies, and in 1943, two Tarzan movies were made with no Jane at all, and in 1945, she was replaced by Brenda Joyce, who played the role in five movies. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them! Condition: very good. This poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. It appears to have had the following defects: There were small holes at each crossfold, pinholes in the corners, and some tears and smudges around the edges of the poster.
