At the mercy of men without their women"; "Based on the Book by Agnes Newton Keith"; "Produced by Darryl F. Zanuck"; a true story written by a female author who was living in Borneo with her family, and they were captured by the Japanese, and her and her husband were put in separate prison camps, and she chronicles her difficult experiences; the commander of one of the camps is played by Sessue Hayakawa, who later had a similar role in "The Bridge on the River Kwai", and in neither movie is he presented as a one-dimensional monster, but rather as a man in a difficult situation doing the best he can) starring Claudette Colbert, Patric Knowles, Florence Desmond, Sessue Hayakawa, and Sylvia Andrew NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Alfredo Capitani Important Added Info: Note that the theater that used this poster glued the pieces together before putting them on display (this is typical of many actual theater-used posters in multiple pieces). Also note that this Italian two-panel poster was printed in 2 sections (designed to overlap) and when combined, the poster measures 55" x 78". Note that it is difficult to accurately date Italian posters, and some unmarked re-release posters can be extremely difficult to distinguish from first releases, so please bear that in mind before you place a bid. We used our best information to date this poster, but we can't always guarantee that the Italian posters we sell are not from an unmarked re-release, but this will only prove to be true in a very tiny number of cases. Condition: good. The theater that used this poster glued the pieces together before putting them on display (this is typical of many actual theater-used posters in multiple pieces). The poster is fragile and has tears and tiny areas of paper loss in parts of the foldlines and the borders. It certainly should be linenbacked, but because it is basically "all there", it will look wonderful after linenbacking, and will likely not require much paint restoration.
