An Original Vintage Theatrical English 7" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Toomorrow (released in other English-speaking countries as "Together"), the 1970 Val Guest English science fiction (sci-fi) comedy musical (about a pop-band who are kidnapped by dying aliens because the band's music can help the aliens to survive) starring Olivia Newton-John (in her second movie appearance!), Benny Thomas, Vic Cooper, Karl Chambers, and Roy Dotrice. Note that this film has an interesting history! Hoping to mimic the success of the Monkees, film producer Harry Saltzman entered into a deal with Don Kirshner (the initial producer of the Monkees), but they frequently argued and apparently began to intensely dislike each other. Saltzman hired David Benedictus to write the film, but then asked director Val Guest to write a new script without informing Benedictus. The movie had a troubled production for two years with the band members kept on a hefty retainer (sometimes being flown to the U.S. only to be told they were not needed). Olivia Newton-John was told "to project" her lines and ended up shouting most of the time. It was such a bad experience that she almost passed on starring in Grease. Saltzman never paid Guest (or the other filmmakers), and Guest obtained an injunction shortly after the premiere, and the film could not be shown until payment was made (according to Guest in 1994, he still had not been paid and the injunction was still in effect). Because of this, the movie was only shown for about a week in England and only had one U.S. showing in Los Angeles. Don Kirshner died in 2011, and in 2012 the movie was finally released on DVD.
