A 1960 Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Japanese Export (printed for use in English-speaking or Spanish-speaking areas) "B2" Movie Poster (measures 20 1/4" x 28 5/8" [51 x 73 cm]) (Learn More) Ikiru (released in English-speaking countries as "Doomed", "Ikiru ['To Live!']", and "Living"), the 1952 Akira Kurosawa Japanese bureaucratic inaction melodrama ("Kurosawa's brilliant drama of modern Tokyo"; about a man who learns he is terminally ill, and he has no family to speak of, and he sets out to find some meaning to his life, and after several adventures, ends up connecting with a young girl from his office who helps him realize what is important) starring Takashi Shimura, Miki Odagiri, Shinichi Himori, Haruo Tanaka, and Minoru Chiaki. Note that this film had a brief and very limited release in California in 1956 under the "Doomed" title (possibly only at UCLA), and a wider release in the U.S. in 1960 as Ikiru ("To Live!") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this movie was first released in Japan in 1952 and (as mentioned in the Description above) it had a very limited U.S. release in 1956 before receiving a wider U.S. release in 1960. The poster offered here was printed in Japan in 1960 and is entirely in English, except for the Spanish title "El Predestinado". We are not certain where it was intended to be used because the 1960 U.S. release had completely different advertising, and the tagline at the top suggests that it was not used in the United States. It may have been used for the first release in English-speaking or Spanish-speaking areas, but because it was printed in Japan, we are calling it a 1960 re-release. Also, note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Japanese movie! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded and had the most minor of border defects.
