An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Moonlight and Noses, the 1925 Stan Laurel & Richard Jones slapstick silent crime comedy short ("A bird of the night."; produced by Hal Roach; about cat burglars who are hired by a doctor to steal a body from a graveyard) starring Clyde Cook, Noah Young, James Finlayson, Fay Wray (18 years old in one of her early credited roles, one of a number of movies she made while working for Hal Roach at the very start of her career), and William Gillespie. Note that it might sound like this movie was loosely based on the English grave robbers Burke and Hare (whose story was covered in "Body Snatchers" and several other movies), but actually in this movie the doctor wants to gets the body back because he was accused of misdiagnosing the patient and causing his death, and by getting the body back he could prove his innocence. Note that a similar plot was used in the 1928 comedy Habeas Corpus, starring Laurel and Hardy, and given that this movie was co-directed by Stan Laurel, one certainly wonders if he didn't help influence the plot of his 1928 movie!

Important Added Info: Note that this is the first time we have auctioned this great one-sheet poster for this movie in all of our years of auctioning!

Condition: good to very good. The poster has some separation and paper loss in the lower two crossfolds (see our image) and there are some creases and tiny tears along portions of the center vertical foldline. There is dot staining on back of some of the folds, but it has little or no effect on the front other than in the blank borders. It is otherwise in pretty good condition, especially given its age, and after a relatively simple linenbacking with minimal paint restoration the poster will quite display nicely for its new owner!
